2021 Estate Zinfandel

The 2021. Estate Zinfandel is definitely "old school" Napa Valley Zin.  Sourced from our historic, dry farmed, 100 year old block,  It exudes timeless elegance that can only be found in a unique "Italian field blend".  The result is a sophisticated Zinfandel that beautifully marries Old-World charm with Napa Valley’s distinctive character.  This dry farmed Zinfandel vineyard, established over a century ago, is a testament to Napa Valley’s rich winemaking history. It was saved from being pulled out in the 1980s by two calls from Robert Mondavi and Joseph Phelps, two pioneers who recognized the vineyard's potential and historical value. Their commitment ensured that the "old vines" continued to produce their exceptional fruit, which is now the backbone of this distinguished Zinfandel.  The age of the vines contribute to a depth of flavor and concentration that is both complex and refined. The fruit is ripe yet balanced, showcasing the vineyard’s unique terroir and the meticulous care taken in its cultivation and its survival.  Complementing the Zinfandel are other varietals commonly found in traditional Italian field blends. The Italian influence enhances the wine’s structure and acidity, providing a balance that is both sophisticated and approachable.
