2019 Reserve Zinfandel

These incredibly unique vines may only yield a small amount of grapes, but what they do produce is unlike anything in existence in Napa Valley. From one of the oldest, if not the oldest Zinfandel vineyard still producing grapes in Napa Valley, this is what Zinfandel tastes like when it is treated with the same respect as our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Because of the small quantities, the wine is fermented directly in new French oak barrels. It is then aged in the same four barrels for two year and then another year in the bottle. On the nose, blackberries, figs with hint of clove and allspice.  Black sapote (or chocolate pudding fruit) mingles with red raspberries to dominate the palate. The rich and full bodied mouthfeel gives way to an elegant tannin structure, balanced acidity and a long, smooth finish. Truly a very special wine.
